  My nameis Claudia, and I worked at the Ben and Florentine in Kirkland for approximately one month. Two weeks ago half the staff were sick, including myself, and because they are already understaffed, the service was even worse. I always served with a smile though, even though it was difficult under the circumstances, and some of the other servers that have been there a long time were very rude to me during the rushes. Thursday, December14th, I went in to work, and there was a new girl being trained. At the end of my shift, the owner Chantal told me to sit down to talk to me. I had a feeling I was going to be fired weeks ago, for the reason that I was not liked by the other staff. And that is exactly why she said she was firing me. She said she had a 'nice click' and that she had received complaints from her staff about me not liking the way they spoke to me when it was busy. I told her you can't fire someone at Christmas, and that I have kids just like her. She had a smile on her face the whole time she was firing me. I also lost one of my best friends suddenly the week prior, and up to this point she was refusing to give me 2 or 3 hours for me to attend her funeral the upcoming Satuday, which I found completely unbelievable. So if you go to this restaurant, know that you are supporting a business owner who is caloused, unfair, and extremely unprofessional.
  When she is nice to you while servIng you, it is only because she sees $$ signs in your eyes. She has no real compassion. And for the record, I love serving, I love the customers and the interaction. If I served you, I genuinely cared about your experience. Merry Christmas. Mine is officially ruined but that's ok. I do believe in Karma.
